Iraq--19 Sep 07 1430 Zulu
I haven't had much time for picture taking, but I'll post some that I have taken. The plane ride from California was pretty tiring--we left California and stopped in Bangor, Maine for a couple of hours; next stop was Shannon Airport in Ireland for not nearly long enough; then on to Budapest, where we weren't even allowed to get off the plane for fear of being seen; and final stop, Kuwait. As much as I look forward to coming home, I dread having to stop in Kuwait again. It was about 10 degrees hotter there and very windy. The Army took all of the prime real estate around the chow hall and they put all the transient tents about a mile away. So, going to chow was not a quick affair. But, at least the tents were air conditioned and I only had to spend one full night there. We had to get up at 0330 to catch our flight into Iraq and eventually landed around noon. Rather anti-climatic. . .no tactical manuevers riding in a C-130. It's still pretty warm here, but the mornings and evenings are pretty nice. Our camp is pretty small and isolated, but I did manage to go to mainside to the PX a few days ago. Not very impressive--and expensive (for a PX). Anyway, below are the pics:
Myself and CWO Smith, the Incident Response Platoon Commander at the Miramar terminal waiting to board.
Myself and Capt Crumbacher, the Supply Officer at the Miramar terminal.
